Not anti-immigration-Not a xenophobe



































I am anti pool of cheap labor and future Democratic voter pool. For me the US borders are the responsibility of US law enforcement agents to keep them secure. USCIS immigration agents are supposed to do their work in US embassies that are located in foreign countries. I do not have a problem with increasing the workforce of the USCIS personnel so that they can do a better job of managing legal immigration, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the US borders getting secured. The US needs a leader like Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt today. Too many politicians today will choose money over the well being of US citizens. We already have laws in place to secure the borders. We need to enforce them. We need additional laws to end the institution of some businesses to go out and get cheap illegal alien laborers. We need political parties to stop projecting an underclass culture of victims from whom they garner votes. Every US citizen is responsible for his own 'pursuit of happiness.' The government cannot solve all of your problems.

Republicans are for both the man and the dollar, but in case of conflict the man before the dollar.

It is not about this Bill in Congress or that Bill. The problem for the United States right now is that we desperately need a leader.

Just wandered on in looking for posts about Abe Lincoln.

Look, I don't know what to say about Lincoln's view of immigration policy. I'm sure he would close off the border, but the problem of 12 million illegals being in the US would probably prompt him to do what President Bush is doing right now, almost exactly. If you want to see such reasoning in greater depth, you have to see how his views on slavery changed - at first, he thought a race war was inevitable, but with the Civil War and the need for Reconstruction, it looks like he accepted almost completely having the former slaves in America (before this, he was planning on helping get them out of here entirely).

The turning point in his reasoning might be the Gettysburg Address, which emphasizes equality in the abstract in a way that hadn't been done before.

The major difference between Lincoln and Bush is how each man looked at labor policy. Lincoln would never support any American business in getting foreign alien laborers, and Bush falls all over himself to help these businesses. I'm not saying that all of the illegals currently in the US should get out of here entirely. I am saying that US borders should be secured by enforcing the current law, and new laws should be written to end this institution of getting cheap foreign aliens into the US. I have got no problem with pardoning some foreigners for white-collar crimes of identity theft that they committed here, but not until the borders are secure and business practices have stopped.
